How Tamra works

The work posts to the books. The books lead back to the work.

Tamra keeps one set of books under sales, purchasing, stock, the till, expenses and payroll. A delivery, an invoice, a bill, a till sale or a pay run posts its own balanced entry when it’s validated, posted or approved. A quotation or an order posts nothing, because nothing has moved yet. Here is where each one lands.

Where each document posts. Each row is a document and when it posts; each column is a group of accounts. Dr is a debit and Cr a credit, followed by the account code.

From the first quotation to the bank.

Each document is made from the one before it, with the button that’s on it in the app. The ones that post do it when they’re validated or posted; the rest are plans.

Posts its own entry

And back again.

Every figure opens what made it. A line of the profit and loss opens the general ledger for that account, a ledger line opens the document that posted it, and every document’s Trace lists the ones before and after it, each a click away.

Home

The day first, then the money in motion.

Home opens on Today: your notes, your tasks and the week’s agenda, with what happened while you were away. Under it sits the business today, read from the ledger.

  • The figures: cash on hand and how it moved since the month end, revenue this month against last month to the same day, the margin over 90 days, and what customers owe by age.
  • Needs you: drafts not posted, overdue invoices, bills due in seven days, stock below its reorder point. Each opens the list behind it.
  • Cash Radar, one tab over: what’s owed to you and what you owe, oldest first and aged to 90 days and more, with what’s left if everything were settled today.

Eagle answers from your own books.

Eagle is the assistant in Tamra’s top bar. It reads with your own sign-in, so it sees what your role can see and nothing more, and it asks before it adds anything.

Ask it

  • How the month is going: sales, costs and profit for any dates.
  • What’s in the bank and cash accounts.
  • Who owes you and what you owe, by age, and which invoices are overdue.
  • What one customer or vendor owes, by name.
  • For a chart or a table of your figures.
  • How to do something in Tamra, from the user guide, or where a note is in Scribe.
  • To take you to the right screen.

With your yes

  • It drafts an email for you to read and send.
  • It adds a task to your calendar or writes a Scribe page, after it shows you what it will add.
  • It translates a Scribe page or a PDF.

Never

  • It posts nothing to the books.
  • It reads nothing your role can’t.
  • It sends no email by itself.

Each person has a daily allowance of questions, on every plan.

Who can do what, and what stays put.

Each person has a role in each company they belong to, and one sign-in switches between them. The steps that change the books check that role in the database, and what has been posted, closed or signed stays as it was.

Roles

Six to start from (Super Admin, Admin, Manager, Operator, Payroll and Viewer), or your own, ticked action by action: view, create, edit, delete, post, approve.

Money, payroll and settings check the role in the database, not only on screen, and payroll takes two people: whoever works out a run doesn’t approve it.

Locks

  • A books lock date: nothing dated on or before it can be posted or changed.
  • A closed bank period is frozen.
  • A posted invoice is read-only, and can be unposted only until a payment is recorded.
  • A product’s costing method and stock accounts stay fixed while it’s on the shelf.
  • The company stamp and signatures are placed only by the people a super admin names.

The audit trail

Changes to invoices, bills, payments, journal entries, customers, vendors and products are logged with who, when, and the values before and after. Admins can read it and export it to CSV. It can’t be edited or deleted.

Where it works, and what it connects to.

Country packs

A company set up in the United Arab Emirates or Angola gets that country’s accounts, tax rates and public holidays. Anywhere else, it starts on a general chart of accounts in its own currency.

United Arab Emirates
VAT at 5%, zero, exempt and out of scope, with a reverse charge and a not-recoverable rate for purchases; the VAT 201 figures with a file for EmaraTax; accounts for WPS salaries and end of service.
Angola
The Angolan chart of accounts in Portuguese, with English names; the kwanza as the base currency; IVA at 14%, 5%, 7% and 2%.

What each pack sets up

Connections

  • Card paymentsEach company connects its own Stripe account; a paid invoice marks itself paid and the fee is booked.
  • WhatsAppFrom your company’s own business number, or from your own WhatsApp.
  • EmailInvoices and invitations go from your own domain once it’s verified.
  • CalendarsYour tasks in Google, Apple or Outlook calendar, by a private link.
  • A REST APIKeys you create in Settings read invoices, bills, customers and vendors, products, stock and the trial balance, and can create customers, vendors, products and draft invoices. Nothing it does posts.
  • WebhooksFor a purchase order submitted, a bill posted, a payroll computed or a leave decision, signed with your secret and logged.
  • CSVLists and reports export to CSV, and so does the audit trail.
