Tamra on your phone
The phone is not the desktop shrunk; it's the parts of the day that happen away from a desk — approving, checking, creating the quick thing, looking something up in front of a customer. Open the same address on your phone and sign in; Tamra shows its phone layout.
Installing
Open Tamra in the phone's browser and use Add to Home Screen (Safari's share menu on iPhone; the browser menu on Android). It installs as an app with its icon, opens full-screen, and works through short outages — a banner says offline and what you did syncs when you're back. On Android there is also an installable Tamra app.
The Android app. It comes as a file, Tamra-1.79.0.apk for example, from whoever runs Tamra for your company. Open the file on the phone and tap Install (if Android asks, allow installs from the app you opened it in). The app opens the live Tamra, the same as the address in the browser, so it always has the newest release, and Eagle, email, payment links and WhatsApp work in it as on the website. It needs installing again only when the app itself changes, and a newer file installs over the older one. With no connection it says Tamra didn't open and tries again by itself when the connection is back.
Finding your way
Tamra's apps sit across the top — Scribe, Calendar, Chat, Inventory, Helpdesk and the rest, each with its own coloured icon; slide the row for more. Inside an app, the same row shows that app's pages (Dashboard, Quotations, Invoices…), with ‹ Apps to go back to the icons.
The bar at the bottom holds Home, Chat (a red count shows messages you haven't read), the raised +, one more app (Sales to start with), and More. More opens with Search (customers, invoices, pages — anything) and the calculator, then every module as the same icons; Customize bar lets you pin the three you want on the bar, and ⚙ beside Sign out opens Settings.
Your picture (top right) opens You, a page of its own: tap your name for your profile and settings; four big switches — Dark mode, Focus (a timer for deep work: pick 15 to 90 minutes, a ring fills round your picture, and the phone rings when it's done — pause or end it here), the Calculator and Refresh; then your tasks, your approvals and your expenses, this guide, and Sign out. The ‹ at the top or Back closes it; the calculator opened from You closes back onto You.
Every page is part of the app. Lists — invoices, bills, tasks, tickets, customers, expenses, reports — keep the app row, the page's name in large type, and the bottom bar. Tap a record and it slides in over the list as its own page; Back slides it away onto the list exactly where you were. Pull down on a list to refresh it. On many lists a row also swipes left for its quick actions — a customer to Call or start their Invoice, a vendor's Bill, a task Done.
+ knows the page you're on and says so — on Invoices it reads Invoice and starts one in a tap (Bill on Bills, Task on Tasks, Customer on Customers…); hold it — or tap it on Home — for the full Create menu: invoice, quote, customer, expense, bill, purchase order, item, task, note, ticket.
Back — the ‹ at the top, or Android's Back button and gesture — closes whatever is open first (a sheet, a menu, the bell's panel, Eagle, the calculator, a dialog: newest first, and closing never acts on it), then steps back one page at a time. On Android 13 and newer, swipe back and a page that slid in follows your finger — it shrinks into a card with the page beneath showing around it; let go and it closes, change your mind and it springs back. Home is the last stop: Back on Home hands Tamra to Android, which shrinks it into your home screen — kept where you left it. A page opened straight from a notification goes Back to Home; one you opened from a chat conversation goes Back into the conversation.
The phone's own bars — the clock and battery at the top, the navigation bar or gesture line at the bottom — wear your theme: light icons on the dark themes, dark on the light ones, whatever the phone's own dark mode is set to.
Home
A greeting, the date, and a search bar for anything — customers, invoices, pages. Under it, four tabs:
- Today — the money card in your colour: your net position (what customers owe you less what you owe), with To collect and To pay as two doors into their lists and a line for where cash is heading over the next thirty days. Then small counters for what's waiting — approvals, overdue invoices and bills, open tickets, tasks due today; Next 7 days — what's coming in and going out this week, and your largest open invoice; Pick up where you left off — drafts saved on this phone, documents and pages you had open; and Create, four doors you choose with Customize.
- Approvals — what's waiting for your decision in one list: expense claims (each says who made it and what it was for), leave requests and purchase order drafts — each with the amount and dates, and Approve (Confirm for a purchase order), Reject or Open right there. Draft invoices and bills wait on their own lists, under Draft.
- Cash Radar — what's to collect and to pay, by age, and a ledger of every open invoice and bill, oldest first.
- Insights — a few plain sentences about what's worth knowing this week, each with a way in.
Big numbers fit. Books kept in currencies with nine- or ten-digit amounts — birr, rupiah, dong — read whole on the phone: a figure steps its size down to fit its space and only past a readable size shortens to 541.6M; the exact amount is one tap away, in the list behind it.
Chat
Chat is on the bar next to Home. It opens on every conversation you're in — your team's channels and your direct messages — newest on top, pinned ones first, each showing who wrote last, what they said, and how many you haven't read. Search them, or filter to Unread, Channels or Direct; Eagle waits at the top for questions about your numbers.
Tap a conversation and it slides in as its own page — bubbles in a direct message, posts in a channel — opening at a red New line where you stopped reading; scroll up for older messages. New messages, reactions and typing… arrive as they happen. The + by the message box sends a photo, the camera, a file (up to 10 MB) or one of your documents — an invoice, quote, order, bill or purchase order lands as a card anyone can tap to open. Hold a message to react, reply, reply in a thread, copy it, make it a task (the task form opens with its words) or delete your own. Start a new conversation with the pencil at the top, or + on the bar.
CRM: the pipeline
CRM opens on the Pipeline: what's open and how much of it is likely, then the stages side by side — swipe between them, or tap a stage in the strip — each deal a card with its customer, value, when it should close (amber when it's near, red when it's late) and who owns it. Hold a card to move it to another stage. Tap one for its page: its value and chances, Call, Email or WhatsApp the customer, the stages in a row (tap one to move the deal there), the details and its activities. Won and Lost are one tap each (Lost asks why — it's optional), and a closed deal can be reopened. Edit, or + Deal on the bar, opens the deal form. Deals lists them all, with search and Open / Won / Lost.
Statements
Sales → Statements (customers) and Purchase → Statements (vendors): pick someone and their statement of account slides in — who owes whom and how much, how old the open balance is (not due, 1–30, 31–60, 61–90, over 90 days), then every invoice, payment and credit note in date order with the running balance. Tap a line to open the document behind it. Choose 90 days, this year, last year, all time or your own dates; Print / PDF and Email send the same statement the desktop does. A customer's or vendor's own page links to their statement too.
Documents
Quotations, sales orders, invoices, purchase orders, bills and RFQs — lists you can filter (Mine, Open, Overdue, Draft…), a view of any document with its lines, totals, status and TRACE, and the actions that make sense on a phone: Confirm, Post, Create bill from a PO (received quantities or the full order), Send, Call the partner. Send on an invoice offers email, WhatsApp to customer (the same message as on the desktop, with the payment link or the customer's portal link, in English or the pack's other language) and Print / save as PDF. On a draft invoice or credit note it also offers Post and mark as sent, for one you delivered another way: it posts it, the same as Post on a computer, so it is in your books; the email can post it as it goes if you switch Post it to your books after emailing on. A quote's Send has Mark as sent, for people who may change quotations. A confirmed quotation has Convert to SO: it makes the sales order, and Sales Order created on the quotation opens it. Editing a draft's header and lines works; the deeper editors — advances, e-invoicing, templates — stay on the desktop. A draft invoice saves in one step, as on a computer: if someone posted it while you had it open, the phone changes nothing and says INV-0004 was posted by someone else — reopen it. An invoice where every line is free isn't posted.
Partners
Customers and vendors: contact details with tap-to-call and tap-to-email, open balance and aging, recent documents, and the quick actions to start a quote, invoice or RFQ for them.
Payments
The Payments register on the phone: money in and money out, filterable by partner and period, each payment with its allocations. Recording a simple payment against an invoice or bill works here, dated on or after the document and rounded to its currency's decimals, as on a computer (an amount that rounds to nothing is refused); reconciliation does not — nobody reconciles a bank on a phone. Taking an advance off the wrong document (Remove) is on a computer.
Expenses
File a claim with the receipt there and then: each line has Take a photo (the phone's camera opens) and Choose a file (a photo or PDF already on the phone). The receipt uploads to the same place desktop keeps them — approvers see it there — and a big photo is shrunk to a sharp, light copy first. Submit sends the claim for approval as you save it; Save draft keeps it to finish later. Watch its status on My expenses; approvers decide from the Approvals tab, where the claim shows who made it and what it was for. Viewing a claim, Receipt on a line opens its receipt.
Stock
Stock on hand by product and warehouse, with low and negative filters, for the answer in front of the customer: do we have it?
Tasks and tickets
Your tasks with due dates and done-marking, and Remind me as one tap (at the time, 10 minutes or an hour before, that morning, the day before, in an hour). When a reminder comes due a banner drops in — Snooze, Done or Open — and in the installed app it rings like any phone notification, even with Tamra closed. Helpdesk tickets to read, reply to, reassign and resolve — the support person's phone.
The shop floor
Work orders for the operator: start, pause, finish, with time recorded — the tablet at the machine.
Withdrawals
Maintenance can take a spare part from stock against a machine and post the withdrawal from the floor; a part with serial numbers is taken in whole pieces.
Reports
Profit and loss, the balance sheet, cash flow and aging on the phone, and the money summary; the full report hub stays on the desktop. The balance sheet shows earlier years' profit as retained earnings and this year's as net income, split at your fiscal year start, and Last year-end is your company's year-end.
Scribe
Pages open on the phone and you can write in them. While you type, a row of keys sits on top of the keyboard: + opens the insert list (Letter parts first on a letter), Aa the text style, font, colour (a plain colour, or a gradient) and highlight — and on a letter the size and the alignment — then B, I, U, the three lists, Indent and Outdent, Undo and Redo. The row slides sideways; ⌄ at its end puts the keyboard away. The line you are on stays above the keys. Aa at the top of the page opens Page style full screen, and ⋯ → Find in page finds and replaces words.
Settings on the phone
More → ⚙ (or the Settings app, where your role has it) opens Settings made for the phone, one list:
- You — your name, email and company.
- Appearance — the six themes shown as small previews, and the ten colours (until you choose one, Tamra uses the green, Emerald). A tap changes the whole app at once (the phone's bars follow) and is saved to your account, so your other devices agree.
- Company — the company profile (one field per row on a phone) and the activity log, for people who manage settings.
- Reminders & notifications — whether this phone may notify you (one tap to allow), and where reminders are set (Remind me, on any task).
- Tools — the calculator, and this guide.
- About — the version you're running; in the Android app, the app's own version too (the app changes less often than Tamra).
- Sign out.
The Settings app (More → Settings, where your role has it) also has the pages in a strip along the top: Company Profile, Branding, Numbering, Accounting Basics, Exchange Rates, Tax, E-Invoicing, Users & Roles, Activity Log, Integrations, Email, Data Sharing, Preferences (the list above), Move to Tamra, and Platform for the platform owner. Templates, Country Packs and Account Mapping stay on the computer.
What stays on the desktop
Bank reconciliation, period close, payroll runs, manufacturing planning, templates and e-invoicing, Country Packs and Account Mapping in Settings, the full report hub, and Scribe's Format bar for letters (on the phone the key bar does its job). The phone hands you a link to them when a task needs them.
Common questions
Is it the same data? The same, live. A payment recorded on the phone is on the desktop's Payments tab the moment it saves.
Can I work offline? Read what you've already opened; create and edit within limits; everything syncs when you're back. A red banner tells you when you're offline.
Notifications on the phone? They arrive in the bell: approvals waiting, mentions, tickets, reminders.
If something goes wrong
- A page shows the desktop layout on the phone → that page has no phone version yet; it will open in a desktop-style view.
- The Android app says Tamra didn't open → the phone isn't online, or Tamra's server didn't answer. Tap Try again; it also tries by itself when the connection is back.
- The app looks stale → pull down to refresh; if it persists, close and reopen the app — it updates itself in the background.
- Approvals is empty but I know there are claims → your role can't approve that kind, or the claim is yours (another approver decides it, unless your company allows approving your own); the list shows only what you can decide. Draft invoices and bills aren't approvals: find them under Draft on their lists.
