Glossary
| Term | Meaning in Tamra |
|---|---|
| Advance (ADV) | A tax invoice for money received before the work — VAT is due at receipt. Applied to the final invoice as a Less: advance line. |
| Aging | Open balances bucketed by how long they've been open: current, 1–30, 31–60, 61–90, over 90 days. |
| Allocation | The part of a payment applied to one document. One payment can allocate to several. |
| Base currency | The currency the books are kept in. Everything else converts to it at each document's rate. |
| Bill | A vendor's invoice to you. |
| Books lock date | Nothing dated on or before it can change. |
| Clearing account | A holding account for money that will move again — Gateway Clearing for card payments, Goods Received Not Billed for stock received before its bill. |
| Credit note (CN) | A document that reduces what a customer owes; applied to an invoice or refunded. |
| Debit note (DN) | The purchase-side mirror: reduces what you owe a vendor. |
| Delivery (PICK) | The warehouse document that ships goods out and posts cost of goods sold. |
| Draft | Editable and not in the books. |
| Journal entry (JE) | The accounting record every posted document writes; debits equal credits. |
| Landed cost | Freight, duty, insurance folded into inventory cost rather than expensed. |
| Moving average | Stock valuation: on-hand value ÷ on-hand quantity is the unit cost; receipts blend in, deliveries leave at the average. |
| On account | Money received or paid that isn't yet allocated to a document. |
| Partner | A customer, a vendor, or both. |
| Posting | The moment a document becomes real: it takes its number, writes its journal entry, and locks. |
| Price list | Named prices that override a product's list price for a customer, category or quantity. |
| Receipt (PICK) | The warehouse document that brings goods in against a purchase order. |
| Reconciliation | Matching the bank's statement lines to the books until the difference is zero. |
| Reverse charge | VAT on a purchase from a supplier abroad, who charges none: you account for it yourself, as VAT due and VAT recoverable (VAT return Boxes 3 and 10). |
| Three-way match | Order vs receipt vs bill; mismatches are flagged, not blocked. |
| TRACE | The button that shows a document's whole journey. |
| TRN | Tax registration number (UAE). |
| Unpost | Reversing a posted document nothing has been paid against; it returns to draft keeping its number. |
| VAT not recoverable | VAT on a purchase the law doesn't let you claim back, such as client entertainment: part of the cost, left out of the VAT return's Boxes 9 and 13. |
| VAT treatment | What a tax rate is for the VAT return: standard-rated, zero-rated, exempt, out of scope or reverse charge. It decides the box. |
| WPS / SIF | The UAE Wage Protection System and the salary file Tamra produces for the bank. |

The questions the support desk hears most
I can't edit this. It's posted. Unpost if nothing is paid; otherwise correct with a credit or debit note. Or the books lock date covers it, or your role can't.
The numbers on the home screen don't match my report. Home is today, in base currency, for the active company; reports take a period and can be filtered. Check the period and the company picker.
Where did my document go? The list's filter (Open, Mine, Draft…), or it's archived — switch the filter to All and Archived.
A customer says they paid. Books → Reconciliation → unmatched lines; if the money isn't there, it isn't in the bank yet.
Why two documents for one deposit? An advance is an invoice (VAT at receipt) and a payment against it. That's the law's shape, not the app's whim.
Can I delete this? Drafts, yes. Posted things are reversed, never deleted — the trail is the point.
Who did this? Books → Audit Trail, filtered by the document. For a file, its Activity tab in Documents.
How do I send a file to someone outside Tamra? Documents → open the file → Share links → New link. For a customer, Send it to their Customer Portal instead.
A customer lost their portal link. The customer's Portal tab → Copy or Email it again. If it may have gone to the wrong person, Revoke it and create another.
Our emails come from a Tamra address. Until an admin verifies your own domain in Settings → Email, they do — with your company's name on them and replies coming to you.
How do I give someone access to only Sales? Settings → Users & Roles → the permission editor: a role with Sales permissions and nothing else.
The PDF shows the old logo / address. Settings → Company Profile or Branding; PDFs already sent keep what they had.
Something posted to the wrong account. Product's Accounting tab first, then Settings → Account Mapping; correct the posted entry by reversal.
The phone doesn't show reconciliation. By design; it's a desktop task.
Where do I ask when this guide doesn't answer? Eagle, the owl in the corner — it reads this guide and your data — and then your administrator.
