Point of SaleThe till, sessions, refunds and the Z-report

Every sale at the counter, posted as it’s paid.

A till made for the tablet on your counter. It sells from the counter’s own shelf, takes cash and card on the same sale, and prints a receipt with your TRN. The moment a sale is paid, its revenue, VAT and cost of goods are in the books.

An example company and example figures. Two products tapped in, one scanned, priced from the customer’s list.

One sale, from the first tap to the receipt.

Pearl Bay Hotel’s buyer collects gift boxes and dates at the front counter. Here is the sale, one step at a time.

1

Tap it, or scan it.

Every product is a tile with its price. Search by name, SKU or barcode: a scanner types the code and presses Enter, and the first match goes into the cart. Prices are before VAT, which is added line by line from each product’s tax.

2

It sells what this counter holds.

Each tile shows the stock at the till’s own location, amber when fewer than five are free and red at none. The counter has three Khalas gift boxes, so a fourth tap says so. The shelf is checked again when the sale posts.

3

Their prices come with them.

Choose Pearl Bay Hotel and their price list prices every line it covers, marked list: the gift boxes at 42.00 rather than 45.00. A seasonal list can be picked for one sale instead.

  • Change a line’s discount or price by hand, and that line keeps it.
4

Cash and card on one sale.

Take Payment adds methods until the total is met: 200.00 in cash, the rest on card with the slip’s last four digits as its reference.

  • When a customer pays more in cash than is due, the change comes from the cash, never from the card.
  • Confirm & Post Sale posts the revenue, the VAT and the cost of the goods in one entry, and takes the goods off this counter’s shelf.
5

A receipt with both TRNs.

The receipt carries your TRN and, when a customer is chosen, theirs, with the VAT under each line and each payment with its reference. When more cash is handed over than is due, it shows the cash tendered and the change. Print opens the browser’s print dialog, laid out for an 80 mm roll.

Count the drawer, then read the shift.

Each shift is a session on one terminal. It opens with the float in the drawer and closes with the cash you count. Tamra shows what the drawer should hold and posts any difference to Cash Over/Short. Omar’s morning closed 5.00 short.

  • The Z-report adds up the session: orders, VAT, refunds, each payment method and the cash drawer, ready to print.
  • Earlier sessions are listed below today’s, newest first or for a day you pick, each with its Z-report.
  • One open session per terminal, so each shift’s takings stay its own.

What it posts, and when.

Each sale and each refund posts its own balanced entry the moment it’s confirmed. A session posts only a difference in the drawer, when it closes. Codes and names are from the chart a new UAE company starts with.

  1. POS-20261009-001Opened with a 500.00 float, closed 5.00 short

Only the difference postsOpening records the float, and closing records the count; both stay with the session and its Z-report. Omar’s 5.00 short posted Dr Cash Over/Short, Cr Cash on Hand.

A count that matches posts nothing. Cash Over/Short is your chart’s own account, or added as 6995 the first time a count is off.

Each line left stock by its own costing method: the gift boxes at their average of 27.50, the Medjool from its oldest layer, the Ajwa at its standard of 58.00. Card takings go to the account set on the method; here, the bank.

A refund rings on an open session: the sale’s own, or once that has closed, the one open on the till now. The box goes back on the counter’s shelf at the 27.50 it left at.

Also in Point of Sale.

Refunds

Refund part or all of a sale, even after its session has closed: choose the quantities and how the money goes back. The goods return to the counter’s shelf at the cost they left at.

Each cashier’s own session

The till opens on the cashier’s own open session, so each sale belongs to one person’s shift.

Till orders

Orders with their state. A sale whose posting didn’t go through waits as a draft, to post or to void with a reason. A sale that posted can’t be voided, only refunded.

The day at the counter

Gross sales, net of refunds, the average ticket and open sessions for today, 7 or 30 days, with takings by method and the top products.

Terminals and payment methods

Each terminal sells from its own stock location. Each payment method has the account its money lands in, and can ask for a reference.

Made for a tablet

Larger targets on a touch screen, and Exact or the next round amount in one tap for cash. On a phone, the products and the cart become two tabs.

See your own counter on Tamra.

Bring a few of your products and their prices to the demo. We’ll set up a terminal, ring up a sale and close the session together.
