Team ChatChannels, direct messages and threads

Talk where the work is, and share the invoice itself.

Channels for each team, direct messages for two, and threads that keep a topic together. Drop an invoice into a conversation and it arrives as a card that opens the invoice. A dot by each name shows who’s in Tamra now.

An example company and example figures. Omar shared the order from his phone yesterday and the invoice from his desk today. Each card opens the document itself.

The conversation, next to the books.

Palm & Co. runs its sales, warehouse and accounts talk in Tamra. Here’s what that looks like on an ordinary Friday morning.

1

Channels by team, and a line to anyone.

Channels sit under their team. Your direct messages and everyone in the company are in the same list, each conversation with its unread count.

  • Pin the conversations you use most. Recent lists the five with the newest messages.
  • Messages arrive as they’re sent, and you can see when someone is typing.
  • A direct message is open only to its two people, a team’s channels only to that team, and a private channel only to the people on it and whoever made it. Tamra’s database enforces this, files and notifications included.
2

Share the invoice, not a screenshot.

In a channel, a thread or a direct message, type an invoice number into the share picker, and the invoice arrives as a card: number, customer, status and amount. Click the card, and the invoice opens.

  • Quotations, sales orders, bills and purchase orders are shared the same way, from your desk or your phone. On a computer, so are customers, suppliers and products.
  • The card keeps the status it had when it was shared. What it opens is the document as it is now.
3

See who’s here.

A green dot means someone is in Tamra now. After five quiet minutes, or when Tamra is in another tab, it turns amber for away. Everyone else shows when they were last seen.

  • On a computer, a direct message or an @mention lights up the chat icon at the top of the screen, wherever you are in Tamra.
4

Threads keep a topic together.

In a channel, every post keeps its replies underneath it. A long thread folds down to the latest two replies, and the rest are a click away.

  • Forward a post to another channel or person. It arrives marked with who wrote it.
  • Search a channel, and it looks through all its posts and replies, not only the ones on screen. Ctrl+K, on any screen, finds chat messages too.
5

Write it properly.

Headings, bold and italics, bullet, numbered and task lists, quotes, code, tables and links, with emoji, files and @mentions. Ctrl+Enter sends.

  • Leave halfway through, and your words wait in the conversation on that computer, files and all.
  • Attach files up to 10 MB each. Pictures open full size.

A card that opens the document.

A shared document arrives in the conversation as a card: its number, who it’s for, its status and its amount. Click it, and Tamra opens the document where it lives.

  • InvoiceOpens the invoice in Sales. From desk or phone
  • QuotationOpens the quotation in Sales. From desk or phone
  • Sales orderOpens the order in Sales. From desk or phone
  • BillOpens the bill in Purchase. From desk or phone
  • Purchase orderOpens the purchase order in Purchase. From desk or phone

An example company and example figures. On your desk, the share picker finds a document by its number. On your phone, pick any of the five from the list. The status on a card is the one it had when it was shared.

Also in Team Chat.

The chat icon, on every screen

On a computer, it counts what’s unread and lists who wrote to you or mentioned you. Click one to open the conversation.

Where you left off

Open a direct message, and a line marks the first message you haven’t read.

Tables that calculate

Put a table in a message, with formulas in its cells, as you would in Scribe.

Reply and react

In a direct message, quote the message you’re answering. Anywhere, react with an emoji.

Edit and delete

Only the person who wrote a message can change or delete it, and a changed one says edited.

Teams you set up

Name each team, add its channels, give them icons, and add or remove people.

Bring the team’s talk into Tamra.

We’ll set up your teams and channels with you, and show you an invoice arriving as a card.
